Moving feet in tennis is crucial. We often heard of “lazy legs”, “not moving legs” and all other terms in tennis for seeing unmoved foot.
It is important to have players since the beginning of the session, especially the beginners to understand that tennis equals to moving. Moving may consist of moving forward and backward, moving side to side, and also jumping. Lets put jumping on other part of conversation.
While footworks, is important, not many coaches train this area often. Looking at it, most coaches emphasis on the sending skills rather than receiving skills. The receiving skills is however much more important than sending (for beginners) aspecially they need to receive the ball first before they have something to send.
Put footwork as the upmost important elements in the training. Make it a routine in the training. Coaches and players will see vast improvement when moving is better.
