Hack: Winning in Tennis

Goal in tennis match is to win. Most players starts “love all” in a tennis match with the mindset of winning the match. The thing with winning is that, most players think of winners in order to get the desired goal of winning.

Understand this. Tennis is not a game for winners. Its a game of managing errors. For amateurs and juniors or even tennis pro, who ever is able to manege errors lesser than their opponent will come out as a winner.

Getting the balls in to hand over to the refferee’s desk is a satisfaction to the players. But how to manage the errors?

One thing that a player need to do is in reducing the unforced error. No free points on what ever occasion. Double faults is a BIG NO. In a set, if possible, should not be a double fault done by the player. Apart from that, the simple routine forehand and backhand should not land in the net since the worst mistake is not able to put the balls over the net.

Bear in mind the ranks of errors in tennis.

1. Hitting into the net.

2. Hitting out on sidelines.

3. Hitting over the baseline.

These 3 errors are the things to avoid according to the ranks of worst (dont ever) to ok for some. Well, ok for soke because nobody has 0% unforced error but try to avoid doing silly or the worst mistakes.

The 2nd thing is to force the error of the opponent. This is where most players are lacking and by doing this too much, making them collecting the mistakes themselves. The strategy of making the opponent run, making them off balance and making them pushed behind the baseline are just to make them forced to make the mistakes.

Winners is good, but nobody in a match able to make 100% winners because a lack of slight focus will end up making unforce errors by the players.

That is why, coaches usually advise players to get to every balls and make at least one more balls in, no matter what happen and where you are in the court. It happens and always happen, when you are able to hit back the balls in most difficult situation, ending up the opponent making a simple mistake.

Manage your errors, make one extra balls in difficult situation and the results will starts to be different in your match. Remember to manage your errors. Make errors lesser than the person over the net.
